Just as I thought Laughing
Yea, I've felt that too, and it's indeed somewhat annoying. Just ignore them, then, just like what I did *when?* *triple shot*

Damn, it's kinda mean to say that, you know? Laughing People smart in their own way, I believe.

Anyway I've realized a fatal usage on an English word among my friends. They often use 'gentle' when they want to adress someone for being 'jantan' just because 'gentle' sounds like 'jantan' |||orz DON'T THEY KNOW WHAT IT REALLY MEANS?!! 8DDD *stomped*

@Ryuuna : Hahaha, I know whom you are talking about Laughing That's why I kept on reminding you to stop.

omgwtf?! Geez, perhaps you have to tell them before they'll get a real problem in the future Laughing Laughing Once again, we have to increase our vocab - yea, vocab is the most important thing in literature! Hell with grammar! *kicked*

I've told my close friends, and they're kinda shocked when they knew it Laughing My sis n mom laughed very hard when I told them about this. It's just too hilarious (do I spell it rite?)

Thankfully I study in a private school. Once I ever went into a public school, and... the English is not so good. I barely could understand what they meant |||orz

yea, you spelled it right (just implement an innate language pack in your browser to check the spellings - like I did Laughing). Hey, I study in a private school... though I can clarify your words here too. Well, there's only a few of them that really pay attention to language after all - and fewer of them who excel in literature. Ugh

too bad I'm too lazy to do something like that... besides I really hate those red lines everytime I write in languages other than English =__=

there aren't many people who really interested in language (especially literature). even teenagers nowadays like cheap love story more than classic literatures, ckckckck... maybe it's because Indonesian people themselves don't appreciate writers, eh? once I told my mom that I wanted to go to Japanese Literatures major for college, and my mom said that I won't get any job after I graduate and I'll live as a hobo for the rest of my life .__.

Haha, well, if you use Chrome, then you'll get the language pack as soon as you installed the software~ *stomped* and if you hate it, then write in notepad *hanged*

Yea, I agree with that, and come to think of it, there's only a few of classic writers in Indonesia - for I rarely found a huge pile of those kind of books (translated into or originally written in Bahasa) in the bookstores... okay, I don't linger in bookstores so I don't know the actual condition, but I believe that my words above is close enough.

Hey, about that "living as a hobo" thingie, you could say to your mom that you could be a lecturer! *kicked* Well, yeah, I've felt that too - but I took English Literature and Philosophy (hell, yeah, like Indonesian appreciate Philosophies --a).

For Indonesian literature, I'm afraid I also don't read much of this... but I highly recommend Pramoedya Ananta Toer's Buru tetralogy, and my sister seems to like Dewi Utami's Saman and Larung. All of these have been acknowledged by the international world, as they have been translated into English.

I prefer reading short story anthologies. There's this one anthology of stories written by Indonesian women, but it's in English, but most of them are very good. To be honest, I don't like reading translated stories (especially English -> Indonesian) because the translation tends to get very literal. I get the meaning, but it doesn't have the same flow... similar to the feeling I get in IH sometimes However, I can be charged guilty for using literal translations as well when I'm lazy Twisted Evil

Talking about literature, I rarely have the "stamina" to read long books unless I managed to get into it after a few boring first chapters, like Pride and Prejudice. I really do prefer reading short story anthologies, such as Oscar Wilde's The Happy Prince (needless to say, his stories were NOT happy. Trust me on this).

@ Xiao Ling: I'm also glad I've studied English outside public schools :p I usually end up being the one correcting the teachers back in high school. Oh, parents usually think learning languages isn't really important because it doesn't seem as difficult as engineering or medicine. For Japanese literature, you can always get a job as a Japanese teacher at school or tempat les (I forgot the English term XD) , since a lot of schools have Japanese as a subject now. The "living as a hobo" thing is pretty harsh :p Also, as Ben said, if you take post-graduate studies on Japanese as well, you should be able to become a lecturer in universities.

@ Kaya: Vocab is important, but I must digress on your opinion on grammar. An understanding of grammar is needed to create loopholes Twisted Evil (???)

Whoa, you've plotted out some very unique choices for university majors. If they are your interests, though, I give you full support. For Philosophy, may I recommend Bertrand Russell's Berpikir ala Filsuf? It's a pretty old book, but it has some good points on analytical philosophy XD

@Akira: hha thx for the warning, its one of the best advice that I didn't take Laughing

@Ben: yea people smart in their own way, but u know what part we're talking about now right ~

About studying english in school...

well I studied in public school but I join the special class where they teach all the subjects with English. Hmph, what I didnt like is the regular students (yea we call them that way) didnt really like us. They think we're arrogant and didnt want to join them because we excel much in English than they are... the worst part is the regular teacher (who dont teach us) treat my friends and I the same way.. Ahh I still remember when one of our teacher is absent and a regular one come in to take her place, we act normally... then she started talking like.. 'Saya memang tidak bisa bahasa inggris tapi anda seharusnya hormat sama saya'

The hell..

They are just jealous I think... >_>... even our teachers being treated the same way...

@Chief
Hmm, Pramudya Ananta Tur? Sounds familiar somehow. And wow! You have Oscar Wilde's books? Do you have Dorian Gray (<- was a fanatic of)?? Yea, since when a gothic writer wrote a fairy happy story? Laughing

and the "tempat les" is supposed to be "courses," i believe? About the grammar thing, yeah, I admit that grammar is indeed important, but still, I used to be a debater (and in debating, it's fine to have a so-so in grammar as long as your words could tackle the other side's arguments and convince the adjus that our case fits the best) and... yeah, perhaps that's why I don't give too much damn on grammar Laughing *smitten*

Bertrand Russell's Berpikir ala Filsuf? Okay, perhaps I'll look for it. Thanks for the compliment, but right now I've set my eyes of VCD - though I would gladly learn those majors.

@Blood
No, i don't *triple shot* Yea, of course i know about it~ Wink)

And, damn! I typed it wrong! I am studying in a public school - though we used English less than your school, I believe.

speaking of truth, actually I also seldom read Indonesian literatures *smacked* I like fantasy and angst, and a little bit of romance (but NOT pure romance coz mostly books with that kind of genre are cheapskate *smacked again*). If the first chapters and/or the summary is boring, I usually put that book aside and look for another one.

But I can't stand sci-fi, mistery, and horror. My head hurts when I read sci-fi and mistery, and I'm too coward to read horror .___. Once I couldn't sleep for 2 days after reading horror novel... *shiver*

@Ryuuna : Were you in International Class? I was in Olympic Preparation Class (a very small class where all the students are being prepared for Science Olympic only), and the 'regular students' (that's how we called them) were like...... treating us like 'aliens'. It's just like whatever we did were all wrong, all weird *okay, somethimes we're freaking out, but we are NOT that weird!!* Even we went to the same school, those regular students acted like we came from 'another world'. It was frustrating .___.

@Akira : yea they treat us that way DD8 its not our fault if we did'nt go out of the classroom a lot and we seldom met or passed by any regular class. Thats how the school placed us, separated from another class. Neutral

well we didnt act like a geek, nerd or anything but they still mistreated us.. even the regular teachers hates us D:, what a school... well I think they were jealous because our teachers got higher wage and of course they are smarter. As I know, the regular English teachers can only teach grammar but they never tell their students how to speak or to pronounce them right...

wow, for real? I also prefer other than sci-fi and mystery coz sometimes I sucked at understanding mecha and sci-fi things and . About horror, I prefer Goth. At least it's better than horror, though I appreciate horror (not Indonesian ones) and got interested whenever I saw the cover that sent chills on my spine~

Well, the truth is, she moved to the Asian Branch. Where did you found the part that Blanka was moved to the African - Middle East Branch, if I may ask?

@ Kaya & Glace: At first, she moved to African - Middle East, but only later did she realise it's actually closer to Hungaria than the European Branch (by distance), so she moved once more...

Don't worry about grammar. Although, for prose and other literary works (including articles and such), I hate seeing lots of major grammar mistakes (if someone's not sure about their grammar, they should get a proofreader!) in literatures, but for spoken English and casual chats such as these, grammar doesn't really matter. Also, on vocab: it's not just about how big your vocab is, it's also about how much you understand several interpretations of words in your vocab Cool this is your Chief trying to cool

@ Blanka & Ling: Awhh, I'm just a normal person who never gets to go into special classes and of the sort... =w=) You know, jack-of-all-trades type. I feel so unintelligent...

I'm only scared of plausible horror. You know, I don't care about ghost stories and of the sort, but if it's about a chain murderer and other things that has been proven to exist in real life, I prefer not to read it... Also, some ghost stories -are- "plausible" to me, and they are the ones I hate the most because I have such a small understanding of ghosts Tilted

Same here. I worked as an editor for 3 years straight, and sometimes I really can't hold myself to make corrections here and there every time I see literary works with lots of mistakes but, well, it's only when I'm in 'editor mode' *shot* But now I often ignoring the usage of 'EYD' and such except when I'm editing magazine's articles or in Indonesian tasks/tests *smacked*

Hey, who said that you're unintelligent? Every people in this world are born as smart people... what makes us looks stupid is our 'dilligence' *quote taken from my Counseling teacher* *stomped*

By the way, do you have a copy/pdf of Oscar Wilde's Dorian Gray *pointing my previous posts*? Tongue And what's The Happy Prince about?

And yup, it's about the idioms too alright Very Happy

Okay, I'm with Xiao Ling above and besides, I believe that unintelligent's not you at all - after the chit-chat in IM about "that topic" - if you still remember, of course Very Happy

and yeah, the plausible horror is indeed scary, but sometimes I'm not afraid about the horror stories for I have something worse to be afraid of, which is men's pure imagination. If you're just as imaginative as I am, then you'll understand how those images got real whenever they had a chance....

@Xiao Ling
wow, you can see/hear them? I can feel them, though I interpret it through signs, so not actual chill or anything.

@Blanka
Wow, I wanna hear the story~ Pick me, pick me! *raises and waves hand* *beheaded*

@Ryuuna: How if I share mine and you share yours? This makes me scared sometimes, but like hell I care; everyday I sleep after midnight and my computer is right BESIDE the 'horror area' of my house *shot*

@Ben: Wanna hear mine too? *giggles*

Well, it's in my family's bloodline to have such 'ability'. Every people has different 'ability': My uncle has ability to predict the future through written media (pen + paper); my cousin can 'see' things; my mom is a 'healer'; my sis is a 'neuturalizer' (even she never admits it). Actually they also can do more things, but they're already specialized on that.

I myself still haven't specialized at anything, so I can do multiple things though it's not as great as they who has specialized in that. In my case, I can 'feel', 'hear', 'accomodate' (Gateway to Otherworld), and 'predict through speech' (Silvertongue).

My first experience of being a 'Gateway' was when I was still 12 years old. I dreamed that I met a dark-skinned man who wore all-white suit. His face was very serene, and he asked me, "Would you mind to help us?" I, who had never experienced anything like that, agreed without any single thouht... and I regretted it later on.

Soon after I agreed, I went into 'trance' condition; I was awake but I had no control over my own body. I sat on my bed, and I could clearly see my room's scenery. And suddenly, there were 'something' went through my body; in from my belly and out from my backbone. It's not just 'one thing' but 'many things'. They were like 'screaming' inside my head, and I felt like want to scream but my voice didn't come out. It happened for... around 1 whole minutes. After that, I collapsed.

It was so damn scary. Now sometimes when I pray (alone or with other people), I still can feel 'something' went through my body. The more people pray with me, the more I feel the pain. That's why I often refuse to join any 'sembahyangan' because if I pray along with many people, I really can't stand the pain Neutral

Laughing it's fine. Her chronicle is a bit confusing indeed *flee before smakced*

@Lia
Of course - it's kinda interesting for me who's just the average black people (like there's a black aura at all Laughing). Wow, I always wonder how cool it would be to be in an indigo family Very Happy I knew one indigo family and they're all cool, but perhaps your family is cooler coz yours got a neutralizer there.

And sorry for being rude, but I kinda laugh when I read your experience there. Somehow the thrill excites me, and... yeah, I also laugh when gory or "interesting" things happens and even when I'm supposed to cry (yea, I feel sad but I comes out as a laughter). Enough about me, and I feel sorry to hear - or perhaps, read - that. So, you don't attend "misa" or things like that?

And if you don't mind, would you tell me more about Silvertounge? *slashed*

Ha... Talking about ghost, I have an experience about them. And it happens 5 years ago when I was moved (a.k.a. Pindah rumah). The new home is a little weird. The bathroom tub always empty every morning. Although the tub had been filled fully with water at the night. At the first time, my father thinks that the tub was crack. But, there isn't any hole even crack in the tub. Then, at the midnight, I realized that there was someone in the bathroom. At the first time, I think it was my father, mother, or my sister. But, at the morning, none of them went to the bathroom at that night. But, the next midnight there wasn't anything weird.

Now, I realized it was ghost. Even, it still go to the bathroom at the midnight nowadays. Although it is the bathroom of the empty house beside my home.

*note: This was a real experience.

@ Kaya: "If I remember"? How can I even forget? Oh, yeah, I'm afraid I don't have that. Considered buying it in Kinokuniya when I met up with Xiao Ling in Jakarta, but it was hell expensive! He's a pretty old author, Wikisource has it, I believe... But I do understand if you dislike reading online versions, because I do ;p *stomped*

@ Glace: Whoa... Tilted Okay, I prefer not to acknowledge the presence of mystical things...

@ All:

Akhh, this is the kind of ghost stories I dislike most... Neutral DUN WANNA HEAR ITTTT... Last time I gathered with my friends with these kind of abilities (at very late night in campus), I had to walk home with a very frantic heartbeat until I reached the house.

I don't possess any abilities, and I don't wish to. I prefer to let these kind of mystical beings and happenings alone, the world is confusing enough without them~ *stomped again* I hope my curiosity won't get the better of me, as I also have a wish of leading an easy life... (I'm feeling like Abisak with all these conflicting interests Laughing)

... But I want awzum skillz like that too Neutral *thrown out of the window*

(Coincidentally, I used to be interested in supernatural things like these, but now, I prefer to ignore them. Strange... I guess I was disappointed since I could not do awesome stuff when I tried to when I was little. It's just normal ol' me Pout )

@ Abisak: Me too! I always scared if someone talked about ghost. even sometimes it still worries me by making such noises in the empty house beside my home. Something that scared me is it always make noise like someone who takes a bath in midnight in the bathroom (and my bedroom is next to the empty house bathroom) AAAARRGGG... *become crazy due to the crazy experience since child*
